Our deepest differences. In families, at work, in the community and in our churches we often find truly deep and significant differences. Even our deepest differences can be honored, addressed and integrated into our personal and working relationships. The most difficult question can become, “How will we treat each other when we continue to disagree?”
Christian spirituality and conflict resolution. The best of the Christian tradition has a great deal to contribute to conflict resolution. We are focused on reengaging the central tenets of Christian spirituality and reexamining how the incarnation, forgiveness, repentance and other core themes will contribute to a new generation of peacemakers. Our duel commitment to unity and truth will provide a fresh opportunity for churches to lead the way as peacemakers.
Developing skills. Since most conflicts follow shared patterns skills can be developed to address the needs of the disputing parties. We emphasize building a core set of specific skills to help people resolve conflicts. We can learn how we contribute to conflicts and how we can help resolve them. Specific training for specific situations gives us the resources to face conflict with realistic expectations for positive resolutions.
